Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 August 2026

Captee is operated by PCP COLLECTION LLC, a limited liability company registered in New Mexico, United States (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use captee.ai and app.captee.ai, why we collect it, who else processes it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

We do not sell your data and we do not run advertising trackers. We record a small amount of anonymous product usage, limited to how the editing tools perform, so we can improve them. Captee does not train AI models on your videos, audio or transcripts. Transcription is carried out by a third-party provider. The table in section 3 names everyone who receives your data and why.

1. What we collect

Account information

You sign in with Google, with a password, or with a one-time code we email you. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider, Supabase, which stores them only as a salted hash, so we never see your password itself. From your account we hold your email address, your display name and a user ID.

The content you upload

The video and audio files you upload, the transcripts generated from them, the caption styles and settings you create, and the finished videos we render for you.

Usage information

Records needed to run the service and enforce plan limits: how many videos you have exported in a billing period, render job status, error logs and basic technical information such as your IP address, which is kept for the period set out in section 4 and used only for security and abuse prevention.

Payment information

Billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We hold your subscription status, plan and Stripe customer reference.

2. Why we process it

  • To provide the service. Transcribing, captioning, rendering and delivering your videos. This is the performance of our contract with you.
  • To bill you and to apply the correct plan limits.
  • To keep the service secure. Rate limiting, abuse prevention and diagnosing failures. This is our legitimate interest in running a reliable service.
  • To contact you about your account, a failed render or a change to the service.

3. Who else processes your data

We use a small number of sub-processors. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

Transcription and model training. We do not train AI models on your videos, audio or transcripts, and we do not permit any provider to train on them on our behalf. ElevenLabs, our transcription provider, retains a copy of the audio sent for transcription and states that it may use non-enterprise customer data to improve its own models. We have asked for that to be switched off; it is currently available only on their enterprise plan. If this matters to you, do not upload footage you are not free to share with a US processor, and write to hello@captee.ai before you do.

Because we are a US company and some providers are in the United States, your data may be transferred outside your country. Where that involves personal data of people in the EEA or UK, those transfers rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard offered by the provider.

4. How long we keep it

  • Raw uploaded footage is deleted automatically 30 days after you last change the project it belongs to, along with the project itself. We remove both together so you are never offered a re-export that cannot work, and the clock restarts every time you edit, so work you are still on is not deleted underneath you.
  • Clips you save to your b-roll library are kept while your account is open. Saving a clip is a deliberate choice to keep it, so it is not covered by the 30-day rule.
  • Rendered videos and saved styles are kept while your account is open, so you can return to them.
  • Account records are kept while your account is open and for up to 2 years after it closes, in case you come back or a dispute arises.
  • Billing and accounting records are kept for 10 years, because tax law requires it.
  • Technical logs (including IP addresses) are kept for up to 12 months for security and abuse prevention.
  • When you close your account, your uploads, projects, rendered videos, styles and library clips are deleted straight away, so download anything you want to keep first. What survives is only the minimal account and billing record described above.

5. Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or export it. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also ask us to restrict or object to certain processing. Email hello@captee.ai and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

6. Representative in the European Union

We are established in the United States. Where we process the personal data of people in the European Economic Area, Article 27 of the GDPR requires us to designate a representative in the Union. We do not have one in place yet. This does not reduce any of your rights under this policy: write to hello@captee.ai and we will handle your request ourselves, within the 30 days set out in section 5. You can also complain to your local data protection authority at any time. When a representative is appointed we will name them here.

7. How we protect your data

Everything travels over encrypted connections (TLS). Our servers are firewalled, and administrator access is by cryptographic key only, with password logins disabled. Videos are stored in private buckets and are only reachable through short-lived, signed links generated for you. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it to operate the service.

No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal data we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority without undue delay, and within 72 hours where the law requires it.

8. Cookies and local storage

We keep a sign-in token in your browser so you stay logged in, and we save a few preferences on your device, such as the motions you have marked as favourites and whether you have dismissed a hint. That information stays on your device and is used only to make the app work the way you left it. We run no advertising or tracking cookies. Our product usage records are not tied to cookies and contain nothing you typed or recorded.

We host our typefaces ourselves rather than loading them from a font CDN, so visiting this website sends your IP address to no one but us and our host.

9. Children

Captee is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not ask for a date of birth and we do not verify age: when you create an account you confirm that you meet the minimum age set out in our Terms. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16 we close it and delete the data. If you believe a child has given us their information, email hello@captee.ai and we will remove it.

10. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for anything significant we will tell you by email.
